Day 3 of nursing a sore mouth. Had a tooth pulled on Friday.
I switched dentists, having a gut instinct that the one I went to about a bad tooth was shady. Some Indian lady dentist did the root canal, but had left the practice when I went back to get my crown. The dentist who did that left a space between it and the next tooth, which let food pack in there.
Friday before last, the crown came loose. I got into a new dentist, (whom I'm very comfortable and pleased with) on Tuesday. Apparently, the root canal was improperly done, which would cause future problems, but the contouring of one of the teeth to fit the crown in compromised the filling in it. There was decay in and around the filling. It would have had to be built up, as it was heavily contoured, so that could have broken, causing more problems. There was also a LOT of decay under the crown as they had left a lip on the backside that allowed food particles to get under it. There was no way to save it to put a crown back on, so it had to come out.
I've got a temporary bridge right now. Have to wear that till June, at least, to allow the gum to heal and the bone to heal and re-grow. Once that happens, I'll have a permanent bridge put in.
It hurts like a motherfucker. Been taking Norco and doing warm salt water rinses.
Hope it's better by Saturday. We have a gig with two other acts that night. And a dirt track race that my son is in on Friday at Bloomington Speedway. I had to miss him racing at Brownstown last night.

It is an amusement park. They did have a building where you could go and build stuff.

I am going to take a vacation in October. I want to go someplace different and fairly remote. So far I have a quote for a guided tour of Nicaragua (volcanos and nature reserves) any other ideas?

doh! Too late, I'm going to Nicaragua to hike up a dormant volcano. Now I just need to purchase hiking shoes and perhaps practice walking.

Is there malaria in the part of Nicaragua you're going?

I remember getting my shots for Costa Rica, I don't think there was malaria in the specific parts we were going, but for other parts of the country it was needed.

Bought your boots yet?

I'm going to the northwest corner to the Cosiguana volcano and a tour of a nature reserve (which really is my biggest malaria concern) then down to Leon and finally San Juan del Sur. And somewhere in the middle there is a visit to an active volcano and another boat tour.

I haven't bought my boots yet. One of these weekends I'm going to take a trip to Dallas and check out the camping/outdoor stores there. I live in a Podunk town.

Well, when we went to Banff I bought some new boots, Lowa Renegades, made in Europe. Love them. I broke them in by using them to walk around the house and whatnot the weeks before the trip, and they do feel like slippers. Very comfy. People have reported that the Vibram sole is not as grabby as it should in wet conditions. It is true that wet slick rock is very slippery with these. My gf has some Scarpa, don't know the model, and the sole is much more aggressive.
